Sell it with usUntil the 1950s, Breitling was best known for its aviation-focused watches. But, amidst the 1950s heyday of dive watches, Breitling introduced the Superocean: a bold declaration that the brand was ready to take up the challenges of designing and perfecting watches for divers.
Since its debut, the Breitling Superocean has gradually evolved to withstand deeper depths. Breitling has also expanded the look of the Superocean, now offering the diving watch in more colours and different case sizes. The example here is in a rare combination of colours. The black dial features turquoise blue accents around the subdials, and the chronograph seconds hand is in the same colour too. The turquoise theme is also picked up on the high quality leather strap. It’s a bold, well-built watch with plenty of wrist presence.
A robust 44mm steel case with a uni-directional bezel and inverted screw-down pushers and crown make for a purposeful and wearable diver’s timepiece. Running seconds, elapsed hours and minutes, and a date window at 3 o’clock sit behind hands filled with luminous material to keep things clear in low light conditions.
A solid case back and a Chronometer designation issued by COSC, is testament to its high accuracy - and this chrono divers’ watch is rated waterproof to 500m depth.
This example has been hardly worn and is offered as a complete set with all boxes and papers. The watch was originally sold in 2016.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
