Sell it with usAuctioned through a private seller, this London-based Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Extra Thin was purchased through Watchfinder by its current owner. The watch is presented with its original lacquered wood display box, and original documents including the user manual and official AP three-year warranty which expired in 2019. There are very few marks and scratches on the watch, and the vendor advises that it is in good working order. They have given the reference an ‘A’ grading, and the photos and information provided appear to correlate with that assessment.
Fashioned from 18K rose gold, this classic dress watch is the total antithesis to AP’s most popular reference, the Royal Oak. At the turn of the 20th century, AP was focused on fashioning an ultra-thin movement, and this Jules Audemars Extra Thin is an homage to that period in the brand’s history. The simple circular case is reflective of the turn-of-the-century’s desired aesthetic, and it balances perfectly with the silver metallic dial, which is offset by elegant leaf-shaped hands and simple, baton hour markers - both of which are finished in polished rose gold. Despite the simple aesthetic, the Jules Audemars Extra Thin is anything but. Beneath the rear viewing crystal lies the brand’s 2121 calibre, which also powered the original Royal Oak. Measuring 28.4mm in diameter, this slender automatic movement is finished entirely by hand, and its intriguing 21K gold rotor serves as a point of visual intrigue. It rests on ruby rollers along a beryllium-bronze ring to ensure a smoother, quieter spin.
The AP Jules Audemars Extra Thin is a throwback to the brand’s pre-Royal Oak days and is a reminder of why AP is one of the world’s finest - and most versatile - watchmakers.
