Sell it with usThe Yacht-Master II is an interesting collection within the Rolex catalogue, offering one of the company’s most complicated and interesting movements inside one of its largest cases. This reference 116689 is one of the brand’s most expensive watches, and with relatively few examples in circulation, is one of the rarest modern references.
The standout technical feature of the Yacht-Master II is the programmable countdown timer designed for regatta sailing. It’s controlled via the “ring command” bezel, which is made from 950 platinum. Also finished in precious metal, more specifically white gold, is the case, screw-down crown, pushers, and the Oyster bracelet. Powering the watch is the Calibre 4161 movement, which offers a 72-hour power reserve and is chronometer-certified. It uses a variation of the vertical clutch and column wheel system found on Rolex’s legendary racing chronograph.
This one-owner watch was purchased by the seller new in 2014. It's just been returned from service and the seller advises it has not been worn since. The service stickers are still in place on the flanks and case back and the watch's condition is within the bounds of the seller’s AAA grading. The sale includes a Rolex box, warranty card, booklets, swing tags, and bezel protector.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
