Sell it with usThe Daytona ref. 116520 has an interesting provenance, being among the first generation to have an in-house movement and the last to have a stainless-steel bezel. Since it was replaced in 2016 with an updated model housing a ceramic bezel, this reference has steadily climbed in value as collectors have come to appreciate its classic and timeless styling.
Striking the perfect balance between sport and luxury, the 40mm case is both ergonomic and supremely wearable. This example features a black dial with silver sub-registers, while the red ‘DAYTONA’ script provides a subtle hint of colour. The hands, indices and Rolex coronet are applied and finished in 18K white gold. A screw-down crown and pushers afford 100m of water resistance and further add to the watch’s versatility. The Daytona is powered by the tried and tested calibre 4130 movement, which features a 72-hour power reserve and is Chronometer certified. The watch is secured to the wrist by a three-link Oyster bracelet with polished centre links and an Oysterlock safety clasp.
This 2014 example is presented in mint condition with no signs of wear and is within the bounds of the seller’s AAA grading. The sale includes the watch’s box, guarantee card, booklet, and swing tag.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
