Sell it with usFamously inspired by the view of ‘land tanks’ viewed from the air by First World War aviators the rectangular shape of the Cartier Tank family has secured itself a legendary status within the annals of watchmaking design.
The Anglaise or ‘English Tank’, Ref. W5310018 builds on this strong tradition, but deploys a number of unexpected details and functionality such as the inclusion of a self-winding mechanism seamlessly incorporated into the case design. The 18k yellow gold case itself measures 47mm x 36.2mm and feels balanced and slim on the wrist, despite its size.
The in-house Automatic Cartier Calibre 1904 MC movement has a 48-hour power reserve and can be viewed working through an exhibition case back. The dress watch is far removed from the battlefields which inspired its design, with a modest water resistance of 30m.
The art deco inspired silver lacquered dial with Roman Numerals and blued-steel, sword-shaped hands; centre seconds hand and date display at 3 o'clock is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
Secured with a handsome black leather strap, this watch from circa 2010 comes with its original Cartier box but the original papers are absent. The watch itself is in excellent condition. The underside of the original Cartier bracelet has some marks and creasing from wear.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
