Panerai are synonymous with large, statement-making dive watches, influenced by their extensive naval and military heritage. This limited-edition ref. PAM00127 is a modern celebration of one of the brand’s most revered vintage timepieces, even having its own nickname ‘Fiddy’ – for Nineteen-Fifty.

The Luminor 1950 is a 47mm modern homage to the original Luminor case – that replaced the Radiomir in 1949, a modified 6152/1 with Angelus 240 movement. It also references the same watch that Panerai produced in 1993 to re-start their civilian production. Characterised by the domineering crown-protecting bridge, with reinforced lugs crafted from the same block of steel of its cushion-shaped case and a distinctive domed sapphire crystal.

The masculine watch deploys the same aesthetics and functionality that made the original such a trusted tool for demolition divers, submariners, and special forces units in the second world war. Water resistant to 100m and with a stealthy Black dial, it deploys luminous markers, Arabic numerals at the quarters, seconds at 9 o’clock and a distinctive 1950 marking at 6 o'clock to create a simplistic and legible focal point.

Powered by a hand wound Panerai OP XI calibre mechanical C.O.S.C movement with 21,600 alternations per hour, with a 56-hour power reserve and an Incabloc® anti-shock device, this 2009 Luminor 1950 is every bit a reliable and modern companion.

Secured with a brown leather strap, this fantastic example of the Luminor 1950 PAM00127 is in excellent condition and comes with an original box and a full complement of papers and supporting documentation from Panerai.
