Sell it with usThe Rolex Submariner 16610LV, or ‘Kermit’, was first released in 2003 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the world’s most recognised dive watch. Several changes over the regular Submariner were introduced to mark this special model, not least the striking green aluminium bezel insert - an ode to Rolex’s corporate colour and a symbol of the brand. The other key differentiator was the ‘maxi-dial’, further improving legibility and giving a subtle nod to the design of early Submariners.
This revised dial paved the way for modern iterations and was introduced as a permanent design feature in newer models but was then paired with a bulkier ‘super’ case. As a result, the ‘Kermit’ became unique for having the dial layout from modern Submariners, but with the more traditional case shape and vintage charm of models from the ’80s and ’90s.
The anniversary Submariner benefits from all the regular features that have made the model such a rugged and dependable watch. The 40mm Oyster case and bracelet are made from corrosion-resistant 904L stainless steel, and the trip-lock crown affords the watch 300 metres of waterproofness.
Rolex is known for making small changes and revisions to its watches over their lifespan, and the ‘Kermit’ is no exception. The dial and bezel were subject to no less than six and five variations, respectively. We also saw the introduction of the engraved rehaut in 2008, as seen on the watch presented here.
The watch is presented in good condition, with only minor signs of wear on the case, bracelet, and clasp. Also included in the sale are the box, guarantee, manual, and swing tags.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
