Sell it with usOffered by a private vendor, this 2008 Rolex Explorer II ref. 16570 is accompanied by the display box, warranty card, sleeve, booklets, swing tags and spare link. Also included is a card from the Rolex Service Centre which indicates it was serviced in August 2016. The vendor advises the watch is in good working order and notes a small mark on the left lower side of the case which is not visible when on the wrist. The images appear consistent with their assessment, showing some light marks and scratches on the case and bracelet.
The ref. 16570 represents the last generation of classically proportioned 40mm Explorer IIs. A handsome and reliable travel companion, the red GMT hand and brushed 24-hour scale bezel allow the wearer to track two time zones simultaneously. Apart from becoming increasingly collectable, the white or “polar” dial variant is highly legible thanks to the blackened white gold surrounds on the hands and indices. This 2008 example has a Super-LumiNova coating on the indices which glow brightly in low light conditions.
Produced between 1989 and 2011, the reference 16570 introduced a number of updates over its long lifecycle. One such change was the introduction of the calibre 3186 movement, which was only available in the final few years of production and is highly sought after by collectors.
