The Rolex Cellini Prince is an exceptional watch amongst cotemporary Rolex production for three reasons. It is the only watch not in a round case, it is the only hand wound watch, and it is the only watch that offered a display case back.

The Cellini Prince refers back to the rectangular watches introduced by Rolex in the late 1920s. Their innovative case layout allowed a larger balance wheel and greater accuracy. The separated seconds dial led to them being referred to as ‘Doctor’s’ watches.

The calibre 7040 developed specifically for this watch features different decoration to the movement top plates depending on the dial variant. The hobnail dial, receiving a hobnail movement design.

This watch is offered in overall excellent condition with full box and papers. The case has only light wear marks, fine scratches, and some light tarnish to the case crevices. The crystal is unmarked, the dial and hands are pristine. The case back shows areas of light tarnish.

The clasp has light scratches to the face and some areas of tarnish to the inside. The fitted strap is a shorter length, the strap is unmarked, and a spare standard-length strap is supplied.

The box papers and all original swing tags are complete and in excellent condition. It has been family owned from new purchase.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
