Apollo 17 (December 7 – 19, 1972) was the final mission of NASA's Apollo program, and it remains the most recent time humans have set foot on the Moon. The mission broke several records including those for longest Moon landing, greatest distance covered during an EVA (extravehicular activity) and the longest time in lunar orbit.

As with all NASA’s missions to the Moon, the astronauts were equipped with the now legendary Omega Speedmaster Professional wristwatch.

This special edition Speedmaster from 2006 celebrates the 35th anniversary of Apollo 17 and honours the Commander of the mission - and last man on the Moon - Eugene (Gene) Cernan, with a special caseback engraving and emblem. The emblem displays the god Apollo and the American eagle with three stars representing the three members of the Apollo 17 team. It is a numbered example from the edition of 3,000 pieces.

The black dial is in the familiar Speedmaster layout with engine-turned subdials - thirty-minute register, twelve-hour register, constant seconds. Luminescent baton hands and hour markers are driven by Omega’s classic 1861 calibre movement.

This example is offered as a full set with its steel bracelet and deployant clasp; all boxes, papers, original pictogram guarantee card and instruction manual. There are only minor signs of wear; swirls and a couple of small dings to the case.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
