Sell it with usOffered for sale by a private collector, this Cartier Tank Francaise comes with the red presentation box, extra bracelet links and proof of purchase from Xupes. With some light swirls and scuffs around the case and bracelet, the condition of the watch is within the bounds of its ‘A’ grading.
Retaining the square case, the Francaise was the first of the Tank range to be offered in steel. Synonymous with elegance, the design of the Francaise draws inspiration from the military. The case was born from the Renault tanks from WWI, and the bracelet is reminiscent of the caterpillar tracks WWII tanks left behind. The dial is white with bold Roman numerals with sword-shaped blued steel hands, and a sapphire cabochon topped crown on the side. Powered by a quartz movement, the caseback remains flat and thin, giving the watch a bracelet-like quality.
The Cartier Tank embodies the effect of paradoxes in design. A watch meant to remind the toughness, and utilitarian tanks of WWI and WWII has become a symbol of grace and elegance.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
