This 1997 Patek Philippe Gondolo is offered by a London-based private vendor and comes as a full set. The watch is accompanied by its original presentation box and official paperwork including its certificate of origin. Further additions to the ensemble include a leather travel case and the presentation box’s outer sleeve. Approaching its third decade, the watch has some age-related scratches and marks on its case and wear on the strap. The watch’s condition appears to be within the bounds of the vendor’s ‘A’ grading.

This Patek Philippe Gondolo has an impressively thin profile and is very much the definitive Art Deco-inspired evening watch. Finished in polished platinum, this fine timepiece’s tonneau-shaped case measures 32mm in diameter. The silver ivory dial is adorned with applied “Breguet” numerals and hands and surrounded by a dot-style minutes track. Bringing together the stylish aesthetic of this reference is a black leather strap.

Powering this watch is Patek Philippe’s manual winding 177 calibre, which is known for its reliability and accuracy and had been used by the brand since the 1970s.

The Gondolo line is named for the ‘Chronometro Gondolo’ watches created by Patek for the Brazilian jewellers Gondolo & Labouriau in Rio de Janeiro in 1902. Since then, Patek Philippe has adopted this name to define a range of watches with unusual (non-round) shapes and designs.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid.
