Sell it with usOffered by a private collector, this Rolex Explorer II ref. 16570 is presented with its display and outer box, leather cardholder containing the original guarantee certificate, booklet, and swing tag. The watch shows some marking around its steel construction, and its overall condition is consistent with the vendor’s ‘A’ grading.
The ref. 16570 represents the last generation of classically proportioned 40mm Explorer II’s. A handsome and reliable travel companion, the ‘’skinny’’ red GMT hand and brushed 24-hour scale bezel allow the wearer to track two time zones simultaneously.
Apart from becoming increasingly collectable, the white or “polar” dial variant is highly legible thanks to the blackened white gold surrounds on the hands and indices. This early example, which dates to 1996, has luminous tritium material, which collectors favour due to its tendency to patinate over time. This particular example is presented without any patina, making it even more desirable as it gives the new owner the opportunity to leave their mark on the watch.
Housed inside the case is the self-winding calibre 3185, with a 48-hour power reserve and Chronometer certification.
Produced from 1989 until 2011, the reference 16570 can be broken down to 4 different version depending on the dial prints. This example falls within the 1st version as indicated by its “SWISS – T<25” Dial, 3185 movement, drilled lugs case and pressure bracelet clasp.
