This one-owner Rolex Sea-Dweller ref. 16600 was purchased new by the vendor in 1991. It was given a full service by Rolex Service Centre on 18 February 2022 at the cost of £1,460, and receipts for this are provided. Rolex provides a two-year service guarantee, and stickers from this are in place on the flanks and case back. The watch shows some signs of wear on the case and bracelet, and its overall condition is within the bounds of the seller’s ‘A’ grading.

The ref. 16600 represents the final chapter for the classic ‘five-digit’ Sea-Dwellers and strikes the perfect balance between modern construction and vintage design cues. The 40mm stainless steel case has a trip lock crown and helium escape valve, affording a mammoth 4,000-feet of waterproofness. The uni-directional bezel has an aluminium insert; the last time Rolex would use this on a Sea-Dweller before switching to ceramic. Applied markers and hands are made from 18K white gold, and a date aperture with the notably absent date cyclops is positioned at 3 o’clock. Attached to the case is a satin-finished Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock clasp and diver’s extension. The watch is powered by the tried and tested calibre 3135, which has a 48-hour power reserve and is Chronometer certified.

The Sea-Dweller is Rolex’s most hardcore dive watch and embodies the company’s quest for technical excellence.
