The Rolex Submariner 16613 was originally introduced in 1988 as a replacement for the 16803 after it’s discontinuation. It is the first ‘modern’ non-transitional Submariner two-tone that the brand released. Produced in two colour variations, black and blue, the present example is the blue 16613LB.

The watch is equipped with a bimetal 18K gold and stainless-steel Oyster Bracelet ‘Rolesor’ bracelet and blue sunburst effect dial. The iridescence of the sunburst dial allowing the dial to continually change, blending seamlessly through tones of blues, purples and black in the shifting light.

This model marks the last to use the aluminium bezel insert, it was also the last generation to include standard hour markers, with the later models being fitted with ‘maxi-dials’ that features significantly larger indexes. The present example features a tritium dial, the Tritium dials being replaced with Luminova in the late 90s.

Housed in the well-proportioned 40mm is the Rolex’s Calibre 3135 movement. The 16613 serves as testament to how well engineered this movement is, as throughout its entire production run the movement was never changed. As with all modern submariners, this was produced to be water resistant to 1000ft.

The watch is in overall good condition, with usual signs of wear particularly to the case back and clasp. It is offered without box and papers.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
