KEY FACTS
- A sought-after version of Rolex’s iconic GMT-Master, the reference 16750 is considered a transitional version and was offered for a relatively short period
- Produced from 1981 to 1988, it combines both vintage and modern elements making it an appealing blend of old and new
- Following a 20 year run of the previous reference 1675, several contemporary upgrades were implemented
- The calibre 3075 was introduced and brought an increased beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour - in line with modern standards and commonly seen in movements today
- This movement was used exclusively in the 16750
- Rolex improved the watch’s water resistance from 50 to 100 metres, giving the watch more utility
- Aesthetically, glossy dials replaced matte ones during the 16750’s production run, and white gold surrounds were added to the hour markers
- The watch is specified with the classic blue and red ‘Pepsi’ bezel which harks back to the original from 1954 and has become an instantly recognisable signature of the model line
- This example is offered by a private collector in Hong Kong as a watch-only lot
- Graded as ‘Vintage’ with the vendor reporting the watch to be in good working order
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
