ABOUT THIS WATCH

  • In the midst of the quartz crisis, only a small number of complicated mechanical movements were produced by Switzerland's top watchmakers
  • In 1984, just 1,066 perpetual calendars were produced in Switzerland with Audemars Piguet making 675 of those
  • The Quantieme Perpetual Calendar was introduced in 1978, and designed by Jacqueline Dimier
  • The 36mm case has a thickness of less than 8mm, which at the time made it the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar
  • In addition to the perpetual subdials, a moonphase disc is also featured at the 6 o’clock position, and thanks to the thin hands, retains plenty of legibility for such a complicated watch
  • The movement in charge of all these complications is the calibre 2120/2, which is based on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s legendary ultra-thin JLC 920 movement
  • This base movement was also used by the other ‘Holy Trinity’ members, namely Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe
