SUMMARY

For many Rolex collectors, the ref. 5513 is the Submariner to have. It’s not the rarest – in fact it is among the longest continually produced series in Rolex’s history, having been in production from 1962 until 1989. But it’s for that reason alone, it is considered to be the epitome of the classic dive watch. Sold alongside the ref. 5512, the 5513 lacks chronometer certification, but cosmetically, the ‘two line’ dial has a cleaner and more symmetrical look without the additional text.

This example is presented in excellent condition, with sharp lugs and chamfers intact. There are some light marks and scratches on the case and bracelet commensurate with age. There are no visible signs of ageing on the hands, markers or dial, and based on the colour of the luminous material would suggest they have been replaced at service. The watch is paired with an Oyster bracelet stamped 93150 with 580 end links.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid.
