KEY FACTS

  • Taking its name from one of the most legendary racetracks in the world of Formula 1, the Monza was created to celebrate Niki Lauda’s championship victory in 1977
  • Offered for a short period of time only, this reference was available with a chrome-plated or black PVD-coated case, and aimed at a slightly lower price point than other Heuer automatic chronographs
  • The PVD-coated, 39mm oval-shaped case of this example is in great shape for its age, only showing minor brassing at the top of the lugs
  • The sharp contrasts of vibrant red and white accents with the deep black dial and case make this watch a favourite amongst collectors
  • Securing this timepiece to the wrist is an aftermarket black canvas strap with matching red stitching and a reproduction Heuer clasp
  • Inside the Monza is a modified version of the caliber 12, known as the caliber 15, which is easily identifiable by the running seconds register at 10 o'clock
  • Offered by a private collector based in the UK
  • Presented as a watch only lot
  • Graded ‘Vintage’ by the vendor who reports the watch to be in good working order

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
