2015 Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator

The ref. 5235G-001 is a distinctive and underappreciated piece within the brand's esteemed collection. As the first regulator-style watch from Patek Philippe, it offers a unique dial layout that separates the hour, minute, and seconds hands into individual sub-dials, a design traditionally used in observatory clocks. This unconventional approach makes it a standout choice for those seeking something different from the brand’s usual offerings.

The watch is powered by the calibre 31-260 REG QA, a movement specifically developed for this model. The inclusion of an annual calendar function further adds to its practical appeal, requiring adjustment only once a year.

Despite its impressive technical features and unique design, the 5235G-001 remains somewhat overlooked within the Patek Philippe catalogue, making it an appealing choice for collectors seeking something a little different. Recently sold on Watch Collecting for £23,750

1970's Vacheron Constantin 'Prestige de la France'

This appealing vintage offering from Vacheron Constantin reflects the eccentric design language prevalent throughout the 1970s. With over 1,800 views on this auction alone, it’s clear to see that characterful vintage pieces are once again in the minds of collectors.

This model was originally created to commemorate the "Diplôme Prestige de la France" accolade received in 1972 that recognised the brand's technical excellence. The watch features a distinctive trapezoidal case with a curved and asymmetrical design.

This sale follows some other recent sales of interesting vintage dress watches, including this Reference 2416 from 1946 and this 'Clous de Paris' Reference 2496 from 1945, both from ‘Holy Trinity’ stablemate, Patek Philippe. We continue to see a steady increase in these types of offerings on the platform, illustrating  the change in collector trends. Recently sold on Watch Collecting for £4,400

2019 Grand Seiko Heritage Collection 'Snowflake'

Most watch brands have a ‘hero’ watch that encapsulates the brand values, for Omega, it’s the Speedmaster, and for Rolex it’s the Submariner. For Grand Seiko, the SBGA211, or ‘Snowflake’ has come to define this Japanese brand’s principles.

The ‘Snowflake’ is defined by its incredible dial finish. Inspired by the snow-covered landscapes of Japan’s Shinshu region, the dial's textured surface emulates freshly fallen snow, creating a serene and visually captivating effect.

Also adding to this watch’s appeal is the movement. It’s powered by the Spring Drive calibre 9R65 which combines the precision of quartz with the beauty of a mechanical movement, offering an impressive accuracy of ±1 second per day. The technical stuff is impressive and all, but what really grabs you is the completely smooth glide of the seconds hand across that snowy dial. This is the kind of dial that's so captivating, you’ll completely forget to read the time. Recently sold on Watch Collecting for £2,400
